The operation in Puerto Vallarta concluded with eight people detained, an arsenal seized, and a safe house dismantled. The Mexican Navy reported that in recent days, its elements, in coordination with the Nayarit State Prosecutor's Office, were conducting dissuasion patrols when they detected a man with a long-barreled weapon. What followed was a pursuit that led the marines to a private residence. Inside the house, which authorities presume operated as a safe house, they found more armed individuals. The secured residence, due to its location and the equipment found, would have functioned as a safe house for the criminal cell. As a result of road closures in the area, the Navy decided to transfer the detainees by sea on an interceptor patrol boat to the Boca de Chila Naval Sector in Tepic, Nayarit. Upon arrival on land, an official Navy vehicle was waiting to continue the transfer. The agency stated that the detention was carried out “with police protocols and the due use of force, in strict adherence to human rights”. Although the official communication does not mention it, sources close to the investigation presume that the detainees belong to a local cell of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). According to the Navy's communiqué, the following items were found inside the property: — A rifle with 30 rounds of 7.62×39 mm ammunition — 76 rounds of .223 caliber — 46 rounds of 12 mm caliber — 19 rounds of .40 caliber — Two radio communication sets — Four tactical vests — Eleven tactical caps — A knife — Six wooden boards with holes (of various sizes and thicknesses) — Six vehicle license plates and two motorcycle plates. Authorities did not detail the purpose of the boards with holes, but all seized items were made available to the competent authority. One detail that stood out in the operation was the logistics for removing the detainees. It began with an armed man walking down the street. In the end, the toll was eight detainees: four women and four men. The seized arsenal was no minor matter.
